Are you in need of part-time or full-time work? Cortland Transit is now hiring for both part-time bus monitors and full-time bus drivers.
Individuals interested in becoming bus drivers do not need to have their CDL to be hired-the company offers training and use of the bus with which to take the road test on. The company can also hire individuals looking to become drivers who do not yet have a permit-they would start off as bus monitors until they get their permit, at which point they would move to a driver-in-training.
Starting pay for bus monitors is $11.80, which goes to $12.50 in January. The bus monitor position is part-time and entails helping with the JM Murray runs, assisting with passengers and securing wheelchairs and other duties as assigned. The company will train monitors on all the job responsibilities.
The starting pay for bus drivers who are hired already having their CDL is $14.31, which increases to $14.71 in January. If a trainee is hired to be a bus driver but does not have a CDL, only a permit, the starting pay is $14.21 until they pass the road test, at which point after January the pay would be $14.71.
